Enigma codes

In many coming of age films, there is something that the audience want to find out, in our case we included many enigma codes. one enigma code we created was why he was sawing wood at the beginning as it seems to have literally nothing to do with the rest of the sequence. Enigma codes are used in films to grip the audience and to keep watching.  Throughout the cross cutting, we add suspenseful music to add enigma codes because the audience can tell that they are heading to the same location but they don't know why,we also end our opening on an enigma code, the audience want to know what is going to happen next after the druggie says that he wont be able to pay for drugs.

Shot types

From watching a few opening scenes from coming of age films, i noticed that they all used the same type of shots like long shots and close ups for example. We thought of including different shots such as cross cutting to add suspense and to give a dramatic feel to the opening sequence, we also tried to be creative when filming to make our film unique to other coming of age films, we used a focus change to mix up the shots. when editing our clips, we realised that the shots were far to long for a film which was meant to be a suspenseful and fast paced so we shortnened them down to 3-5 seconds to add that dramatic fee back into the film.
